About Me

I'm a 27-year-old blog writer trying to balance multiple chronic illnesses (Hashimoto's Thyrioditis, Fibromyalgia, Trigeminal Neuralgia, etc) while being a new mom with 2 little ones under 2. As a mom I am both raising the future canadian leaders, and feeding canada's worst eater. All while juggling your average things like day-to-day housework and flu seasons. My biggest accomplishment to date is a BA in Crisis Counselling.  I hope to inspire others, while we share some laughs.

About the Blog

Welcome to Elysia B! My small little blog, where I get to just be me, and it's enough. And, you get to just be you, and it's enough. We can make this a safe place, to share our war stories. This is a place where I'm going to be very frank, and honest with you. I'm going to tell you, straight up that this is what it looks like to live with confusing amounts of pain. You can have a chance to understand that, if you choose to. Or, you can walk away from it, that’s okay to. Alternatively, you can dive in, and learn how to empathize with a well lived life.

If you've never encountered someone with these conditions it’s a great way to broaden your perspective, as there are lots of people all around you, living with invisible illnesses.

A person does not have to look sick, to be sick. If you do struggle with similar conditions, and you can find some comfort in the camaraderie of reading familiar tales. Then, I am more than happy to share my trials and joys with you on the blog. And, I also want to invite you to share yours with me! There will eventually be a section called Our Stories for your submissions to be posted to because, I would love to hear share your stories with our Young and Chronic Community. I want to help in some small way, to put an to the end to the isolation, we feel as patients with chronic illnesses. And maybe that can start by one more person being brave enough to share how their journey started, and then another, and so forth. If you want to email in your stories about your journey, please email  elysiab.submissions@gmail.com. All I can say so far is that it looks like you can live with a great deal against you, and still live a very full and happy life.
My Mission
My mission is to fill this blog and forum with stories of people who have pushed their limits, dared greatly, helped each other and grown together. I started blogging a long time ago to share what I was going through with multiple chronic conditions. Describing for others what it was like, because I knew it was hard to comprehend, for those who had never experienced this type of pain. Outside of my own genetic family, I have only encountered a rare bird, here and there. Particularly, at a specialist's clinic and I'm lucky if they are ever younger like myself. So I suppose this is my question, am I the rare live young martian who should be a zoo exhibit with multiple chronic conditions, and missing parts or is there a tribe of us? Let me know if you are out there.
